The electrical department of Houston
Ship Repair, is one of its many strengths. This facility, the most modern
of all of HSR's workshops, is manned by highly skilled marine electrical
technicians, with years of field and shop experience.
The fully equipped workshop has a dynamic balancing machine, core loss tester, calibrated burning and baking ovens, and an air-conditioned and computerized rewinding room.
Motor rewinding (up to 500kW) can be carried out within 48 hours, and under emergency conditions, can be completed within 32 hours using a special quick curing "pour-through" varnish.
As with all other departments, work is carried out on a 24/7 basis to ensure no vessel delays.
Repairs, modifications, and replacement design
modules for controllers, alarms systems and marine instrumentation are
amongst the many services provided. HSR can design and custom build controllers
tailored to customers specific applications.
